Heartbreak at Thickwood In Game 4 March 12, 2009

The Oil Barons put on quite a show on Wednesday night managing to come back from 2-0, 3-2 and 6-4 deficits only to lose 7-6 on a goal by the Saints with 15 seconds left.

Rookie d-man Brendan Wright iced the puck with 28 seconds left, it was play that Wright would probably like back as he had time with the puck and had Erik Toews waiting up the boards for a pass. Other than that play Wright played pretty good in his first game of the series.

The MOB weren’t able to win the face off and got caught running around which left Josh Kiezer all alone in the slot and he fired the puck home with 15 seconds left on the clock.

Another turning point in the game was when things were tied at 4 in the 3rd and Ben Lauder took a double minor for high-sticking in the offensive zone while the MOB had all the momentum. The Saints power-play made the Barons pay by scoring twice to take a 6-4 lead but the Barons did bounce back to tie it at six and I’m very confident they MOB would have won this game in overtime….in fact they had a couple great chances to take the lead in the final two minutes of the third prior to the Kiezer goal.

Steven Legatto probably has worst game of the series allowing 7 goals on 46 shots….he will need to bounce back in Game 5 if the Barons want to have a shot at staving off elimination.

Jordan Berk worked his last game with me in the broadcast booth last night…..he gave a farewell to each one of his teammates.

Had a chance to catch up with Michael Perry following the game…his thought’s are below.

Post Game Comments From Captain Perry
